1. Vomiting: This is the common side-effects of lap band surgery. Almost all benders experience this problem. This happens when you eat large chunky food, quickly or eating in hurry, drinking water before and after meal. You have to give proper care on your diet plan after lap band surgery. This may cause the situation of lap band slippage and reoperation of lap band.
2. Nausea-This is the same condition as like vomiting. You feel like vomiting.
3. Difficulty swallowing- You get the problem of passing food from your mouth to stomach. When you eat either in small amount or in large amount you get the problem of passage of food. You get the problem of vomiting, reflux etc.
4. Gastro esophageal reflux- This is the problem of eating disorder. You get heartburn after eating or lying down. This may be because you lap band is too tight.
5. Constipation-As after lap band surgery you will be on liquid phase and take small amount of food (negligible). This disturbs your normal routine and you get the problem of constipation. Medication used after lap band surgery may also cause the problem of constipation.
6. Stoma obstruction- This is the common complication which a bender can face. This is the obstruction of stoma opening. Caused when lap band is not placed at the right position. Almost 14% patient faces this. It requires re placing lap band to avoid any further complication.
7. Esophageal dilation-This is the problem of enlargement of esophageal. Your pouch become too large and esophageal get the problem of pushing food. It causes the problem of perforation, bleeding, painful swallowing, bloody unit, reflux, heart burn etc.
8. Diarrhea—after lap band surgery you are in the stage of liquid phase and thus you experience the problem of loose stool and diarrhea.
9. Hair loss and protein deficiency- Protein deficiency is the common problem after lap band surgery. You get the inadequate amount of food and this cause the deficiency of protein and hair loss.
10. Gallbladder—Due to the rapid weight loss you, gallstone will form in gallbladder which result with abdominal pain with indigestion and vomiting.
11. Pancreatitis- enlargement of pancreases is called pancreatitis. This is because of the formation of gallstone. After effect of this complication is breathing problem, bacterial infection etc.
12. Gastric Perforation- Tearing of stomach wall is called gastric perforation. Due to this food come out from stomach. If it happens near lap band system then this can be repaired but if this is severe then transplantation is next option.
13. Lap band slippage—lap band may slip from its place due to any reason like vomiting and this result your hospitalization and re-operation.
14. Rejection- Some of the bender experience the problem of rejection of lap band by body system. You get no advantage after being banded.
